Sciatica Treatment in DeLand, FL
Drug-free, non-surgical care for radiating leg pain at Chiropractic Connection Center.
Sciatica-type pain — pain that travels from the low back or buttock down the leg — is one of the clearest examples of why the place you hurt and the place causing it are not the same place.
We look for the cause, not just the pain
Chiropractic focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of those disorders on general health. Our approach is neurologically based: rather than treating only the spot that hurts, Dr. Brad Shallow and Dr. Taneesha Waldner-Juras assess how your musculoskeletal and sensory systems are interacting with your nervous system, then target the areas where that communication has broken down.
Pain travelling down the leg is a nerve doing its job: reporting a problem further up the chain. The examination is about locating that problem rather than chasing the symptom down the leg.
Sciatica symptoms patients describe
- Pain running from the low back or buttock into the leg
- Burning, tingling, or electric sensations down the leg
- Numbness or weakness in the leg or foot
- Pain that worsens with prolonged sitting or driving
- Symptoms on one side that shift with position
- Radiating pain that began after a lifting injury or auto accident
This list is not a diagnosis. An in-person examination is how we determine what is actually driving your symptoms and whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.
How we approach sciatica at our DeLand office
Care is tailored to what the examination finds. Depending on your case, treatment may draw on any combination of the following:
- Neurologically based chiropractic adjustment — restoring joint mobility by applying a controlled force to joints that have become restricted in their movement
- Applied Kinesiology — muscle testing used to assess structural, chemical, and mental components together
- Cold Laser Therapy — an FDA-cleared, noninvasive treatment using low-intensity light to stimulate cellular healing and reduce inflammation
- PEMF therapy — pulsed electromagnetic field therapy used to support circulation and cellular recovery
- Shockwave therapy — clinical-grade acoustic pressure waves used for chronic and stubborn soft-tissue cases
- Coordinated accident care — for auto injuries, in-house treatment coordinated with our network of neurologists, orthopedic physicians, and pain specialists
What to expect at your first visit
We start with an examination and a conversation about your history, your symptoms, and what you are trying to get back to doing. From there we explain what we found and what we recommend.
Treatment plans are tailored to each individual. We don't sell large upfront packages — we focus on how your body responds to the first few adjustments. Chiropractic adjustment rarely causes discomfort, though some patients experience mild soreness afterward that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours.
